CANARY FLY, Fla.
— The Canaries scored a run off an RBI double from catcher Mikey Oliva to take a 3-2 lead over the New York Yankees.
Oliva and catcher Brandon Kincaid tied it at 3-3 on a two-out single from catcher John Gonsalves with one out in the sixth inning.
The next batter scored a pair of runs for the Canaries, with second baseman Nicky Saldaña hitting a leadoff double off reliever Joe Gantt with one down.
Oliva made it 6-4 on a single by shortstop Luke McKeon, who drove in a run.
Oliva and Gantter scored two runs apiece for the Yankees.
They made it 7-4 in the seventh on a home run from catcher Ben Sheets.
McKeon was hitless in three at-bats since he was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on April 16.
Sheets, who was sent to Triple- A Syracuse on Tuesday, made it 8-4 with a home blast in the eighth.
Saldañas second homer in four at-bat gave the Canary a 3.5-to-1 lead.
Olivas RBI single off Yankees reliever Matt Moore gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead.
Olivas second homer of the night was his sixth of the season.
Olives second homer was the longest in the majors this season and was his eighth of the year.
Gantt went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and a walk.
Sandra Perez hit her second career home run in the fourth inning.
